A Memorial Mass for Dr. Dorenkamp will be held on Saturday, May 18th at 11:00 AM at The Chapel of the Holy Spirit, Assumption College, 500 Salisbury St., Worcester.

Broadsides!  Nine of the ten csses displayed broadsides and posters from 1972 to the present.  This case, just inside the entrance to the library, held the largest selection.  A few have fallen off the display board due to humidity - the library was having problems with the cooling system.The Bishop display included items from the 1996 Bishop Conference and the 2011 Centennial events.  Photos of readings at the Bishop gravesite and Bishop-themed issues of The Worcester Review were included.Programs, broadsides and photos of visiting Bishop scholars were included."In the Waiting Room" was displayed in addition to books by and about Bishop.The Celebrations display allowed us to showcase everything from the annual Bloomsday Worcester Ramble to open readings to visits by the Dead Poets Society of New England.Also featured where photos and other items from the Poets and Friends fundraiser held at the Bijou Theater.Poets in the Galleries displayed broadsides from several collaborations with the Worcester Art Museum. Included was the joint publication, "Poets in the Galleries: The Permanent Collection."The broadside from a Stanley Kunitz reading at WAM, photos from the Celebration of Worcester Poets (one of several held at the museum) and a copy of "The Issue: Hudson River Poets" were included.Copies of The Issue, early copies of The Worcester Review and Worcester Poets were highlighted. Worcester Poet Laureate Gertrude Halstead was featured, along with Denise Levertov and Donald Baker.Also featured was Tmothy Adams' project, overseen by Laura Menides, which placed markers at the homes of Worcester poets and created a literary guide of the area.Stanley Kunitz was represented by a wealth of matrial from his visits to Worcester.  Broadsides, Kunitz Poetry Festival and Centennial documents,  photos and decades of memorabilia were on display.A letter from Stanley Kunitz to Carol and Greg Stockmal was on loan from Carol Stockmal.  Additional items included photos and broadsides from the Annual Gregory Stockmal Reading and Kunitz-Stockmal House programs such as readings, docent tours, writing workshops.Several Kunitz photos by John Gaumond were displayed, as well as Kunitz books and Kunitz issues of The Worcester Review.Photos of the Kunitz discussion panel at the American Literature Association marked the first meeting of the Stanley Kunitz Society.  Also displayed were photos and documents of the dedication of 4 Woodford Street as a Literary Landmark by the American Library Association.The Frank O'Hara cabinet featured photos and programs from the production of O'Hara's one act plays "Try Try" and "Change Your Bedding", including some of the material on display during the run of the plays and photos of the participating poets and musicians.Several O'Hara photos and poems were displayed and one well-used volume of his collected poems.The Charles Olson Centennial took center stage with programs, posters and photos from the 2010 event.  Photos of Charles Olson, copies of Olson themed Worcester Reviews and several books by Olson were included.Also featured were excerpts from "The Post Office" and "Maximus".Programs for the Ed Sanders performance at Worceser State University and Anne Waldman's reading at WPI were displayed along with the City of Worcester Proclamation in honor of Charles Olson.Many local WCPA member authors provided their books for display.  Many thanks, as well, to the WCPA members who shared volumes from their own collections of favorite local poets.Featured were several literary journals founded by members:  Sahara (Peter Manceviece), Diner (Eve Rifkah), and Ballard Street (Heather Macpherson).Every volume that was received as a result of our requests to authors was on display.The Worcester Review was included in several of the display cases: O'Hara, Bishop, Olson and Kunitz, as well as the WCPA History display.Several significant volumes were chosen to illustrate the range of themes and poets related to Central Massachusetts which TWR has featured over the years.Everything from valentines to slam poetry to slave narratives have been featured.  TWR also publishes the winning poems of the WCPA Frank O'Hara Prize and the WCPA College Contest Manuscript Prize.Original artwork on loan from Judith Ferrara was displayed beside the reproduction which appeared in TWR Volume XXXIII, the Chris Gilbert issue, shown on the right.
