The Worcester County Poetry Association inaugurated the College Poetry Competition in 2008 to encourage and recognize the next generation of poets.  The finalists are nominated by faculty and administrators at colleges in Worcester County.

Nominated students are asked to perform one submitted poem. Students compete for
a cash award and a one-year WCPA membership in two categories: the WCPA College Manuscript Prize and the WCPA College Performance Poetry Prize. The judges are Bob Gill, Carle Johnson, and Diane Mulligan. In addition, this year the winning entry will be published in The Worcester Review and all submissions will
be considered for publication in Route 2: The Literary Journal of Fitchburg State College.
